TDK fic!

Title: Making A Fresh Start
Pairing: Batman/Catwoman (more like Bruce Wayne/Selina Kyle)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Batman and Catwoman belong to DC Comics and each other.
Notes: Since Batman Begins and The Dark Knight seem highly influenced by The Long Halloween and Dark Victory, I’m including some aspects of those stories here. You’ll see which. ^_^

The phone rang. She watched the little yellow light blink along with the ringing. She thought about picking up the phone only to slam it down on the base again.

Would the man never learn? He thought he could blow her off and a call was going to make up for it? Oh, no. She didn’t care that he was Bruce Wayne. Prince of Gotham. Billionaire Playboy. None of it was all that important to her anyway. Whoever messed with her got cut off immediately. Her time was too important to waste with people, particularly men, who thought they were God’s gift.

Although…dating the man your father—correction, alleged father—hated was a big incentive. But if Falcone, who had been released from Arkham only two months ago, wasn’t going to recognize her publicly, why should she take anything he cared or didn’t care about into consideration? Going out with Wayne simply to spite the old guy had not been her finest moment, but Falcone had sent a note saying she should watch who she associated with. He had not signed the card or done anything so careless, but she knew it was him. She had no other family to worry about those kinds of things.

The phone stopped ringing. She sighed not knowing if she was relieved or not to have him finally give u—

The phone rang again.

Whatever. She didn’t care. She didn’t know why she was sitting by the couch listening to his messages or the constant annoying Riiiiing! anyway. She got up, slipped on her heels, and threw on her coat. She’d get far away from the ringing. From him. Maybe she’d stop by her brownstone to check if its renovations were finally close to being completed.

She swung the door open and Bruce was standing on the other side of it, a cell phone in one hand and the free one about to knock.

“Selina…” he said breathlessly, but even if he had jogged up the forty flights of stairs, she doubted that anyone who had a body like he did would be winded after so short a workout.

She was surprised to see him there, but recovered from her shock quickly. Even if he did look so good. That hair. That face. That smirk! The nerve.

“Excuse me,” she said, squeezing between the doorframe and Bruce to step outside into the hall. She locked the door to her suite and headed towards the elevator.

“Selina, wait.”

“We have nothing further to discuss, Bruce,” she assured him.

He was behind her shortly, “Let me explain. I couldn’t—”

Ding!

The elevator doors opened and she smiled at the conductor.

“Lobby, Ms. Kyle?” he asked, eyeing Bruce suspiciously until it dawned on him who exactly he was trying to intimidate. He turned and concentrated on the elevator buttons as they descended.

Her eyes twinkled in amusement, but she wasn’t about to forgive Bruce so easily. So what if he bothered to track down her temporary address and decided to show up unannounced, which come to think of it, she didn’t much like at all. The less anyone knew of her, the better. She couldn’t let anyone get too close or delve into her past. Maybe it was a good thing he hadn’t shown up last night. Besides, if she cancelled her “trip” to have dinner with him and he didn’t bother to call and reschedule, what was there to explain? She had planned on three houses that night. Three houses full of priceless items easy for her to sell on the black market. Of course, Bruce didn’t know that, but that’s what he’d cost her. She wasn’t about to forget anytime soon.

What was he doing in Selina’s elevator? Following her like a lost puppy is what he was doing! When did he follow anyone? Despite how he felt about Rachel… he had never trailed after her…and here he was pursuing someone he hardly knew through her apartment building trying to explain why he missed the dinner he didn’t even want to have initially. But since Rachel’s passing, Bruce Wayne had not been out as much he as was supposed to. Or so he tried to convince himself. Deep down, however, he knew why he was there.

Selina made him forget. He forgot himself, his past failures, and the future turmoil awaiting him. She was so vivacious, living in the here and now that when he was with her he could almost believe he too was living in the here and now. He knew it was selfish of him, but he didn’t plan on stringing her along for too long.

She obviously didn’t want to speak to him and he knew why, but Scarecrow had escaped Arkham and he couldn’t let him terrorize Gotham again. But he couldn’t very well say that. He had an entire lie fabricated about Wayne Enterprise business out of the country that required his immediate attention.

Ding!

“Lobby.”

“Thank you, Mark.”

Mark felt compelled to bow as she and Bruce Wayne exited his elevator, “Of course, Ma’am. Sir.”

They walked through the lobby without saying anything. She knew she shouldn’t see him again. Being who she was, everyone knowing who he is, there was no way it would end well. It was a dangerous situation, but he piqued her curiosity and she wanted to know more.

Bruce knew he shouldn’t pursue her. He should have seen yesterday’s interruption as a stroke of luck; what was the point of his wanting to get to know her, they could never really get anywhere because of the lives he led. It was an impossible situation he couldn’t force himself to walk away from.

When they stepped outside, she continued to ignore him and hailed a cab.

“Let me make it up to you,” Bruce tried again, reeling in his thoughts of the future to something more easily accomplished, “How about breakfast?”

She hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday and breakfast sounded great actually.

“I suppose one meal couldn’t hurt,” she replied more to herself and without so much as a glance in his direction.

Bruce grinned and led her to the car. Alfred opened the door, but before she stepped inside, she added, “But don’t think this means you’re off the hook.”

This is only my second week in California and there's already been an earthquake! O_o I didn't feel it tho. I was driving to school. Imagine the odds of that happening? I'm at my aunt's now and the news is starting to worry me. So many locals are like, "Meh, that was nothing." And all the transplants are all "It was my first earthquake and it was scary."

Do they happen that often? There have been 27 or so aftershocks, but I didn't feel any of them. Is that how the earthquake was, too? O.O

Highlight to see.

I was just wondering if I am reading too much into this, but when Lucius and Bruce are talking about the new suit, this exchange (or something similar) takes place:

Fox: "The separation will make it more vulnerable to knives and bullets."

Wayne: "All I care is that it'll hold up to dogs."

Fox: "It should do fine against cats..."

Is that like a less subtle Joker card? A possible hint for the next film? And, yes, I am thinking Catwoman...

I am? *grumbles* Well, it's not that I have anything against Ironman, I thought RDJ was so cute, but I want TDK to do well, so that there's a third Nolan film and CATWOMAN can star in it! God, that would be awesome!! Whose with me? Guys?

Disclaimer: Batman and Catwoman belong to DC Comics and each other. Inspired by The Thomas Crown Affair, with a line taken from the movie. I don’t know who owns the rights, but it’s not me.
Notes: Since I will be watching The Dark Knight in a few hours, I thought I’d write Bruce and Selina’s first meeting in the movieverse.

He was always wearing armor of some kind. It was usually involved Kevlar and a cowl, but other times it was the latest Armani. Whatever the case was, no one saw him without clothing. Even the girls he left the party with never saw him completely nude. He pretended to pass out before anything could go beyond kissing. Some of this she knew, some she couldn't possibly, but didn’t much care.

She watched him patiently, which didn’t happen often. Or never, in fact. She prided herself on not wasting her time on just anyone, but he was different. She wanted to unwrap him like a present on Christmas morning. Tear a bit at a time. Savoring the anticipation. Imagining the possibilities. And she would do it, too. A cat could wait for the right moment to pounce and strike.

Bruce had felt the lustful gaze of many women before. Though often, they were after something other than him. They wanted his money. Or his name. A woman wanting him, though, with no strings attached had not happened. He always refused to stick around long enough to find out, but now, he was ashamed to admit, he was curious.

So he danced with her. But it was obvious she wanted more. The way she moved, her body undulating to the music and against him. He was surprised to find himself respond in kind.

She smiled, white teeth gleamed with satisfaction and she whispered, “Do you want to dance, or do you want to dance?”

The first time she undressed him, it was dark. Very dark. He wasn’t nearly as mindful of his body with no light to reveal all his secrets. But he worried she might stumble onto recent injuries and he held her hands. He used his body against her, trapped her, didn’t let her move like she wanted.

She didn’t like it. She bit him. Scratched him, but he wouldn’t give way.

He got off the bed and without looking at her, said, “I can’t do this.”

He searched for his clothes. She stopped him.

“Do you want me?”

He closed his eyes. He tried to pretend she wasn’t there. He wanted to wish her away.

“Do you want me?” she asked again. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

He shuddered when he felt the heat of her body, her breasts against his back. God, he did want her. He wanted her more than he’d ever wanted anyone else before or since, but he had to protect himself in order to protect Gotham because...because Gotham was the only thing that mattered.

“No.” He said and picked up his pants.

“You’re lying.” She replied and stretched up to kiss his shoulder, “I don’t care who you are or what you do. That’s not why I’m here. I want you. Now. And I know you want the same thing, too.”

She stepped around to stand in front of him, the tips of her fingers always touching him as a reminder of how much he needed this. She sought and found his lips. It didn’t take long for him to kiss her back.

When he woke up two hours later, he was surprised to find her gone. The bat-signal lit up the sky and he had a gut feeling Catwoman had stolen again. He cursed his weakness and he cursed Selina, the name she’d given him. Probably a fake. It didn't matter. He dressed quickly and went out to meet Commissioner Gordon.

Iron Man

I saw Iron Man. It was alright. But after all the hype I thought it was going to be the best Movie EVER! but I thought it was just meh. Robert Downey Jr did good. So did Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts(and who thought up that name?). I did like their chemistry. It felt right and not at all forced. I can only hope TDK will be similar in that aspect!

The end though, no, I don't mean the special ending after the credits, I mean and if you don't want to know the SPOILERS look away now. I don't like when superheroes reveal their identity to the world. I like a little bit of mystery. Then it's just...er?? Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing it again though. Maybe it'll grow on me because in all honesty, I knew nothing of Iron Man going in.

Oh, and I think Marvel's getting better at throwing Stan Lee in there. He never fails to amuse me.

There wasn’t the dim, soothing light provided by candles or the aroma of beautiful smelling flowers filling the room or any of the many other things typically considered romantic. No, they were on the rooftop cramped into a dark corner trying to stay out of the rain.

“Are you…all right?” he asked. His tone was awkward and she smiled at him. She’d never seen him this kind of worried before. She decided it didn’t suit him.

She was about to speak when the sounds of purring cats reached her ears. She shook her head. This was all wrong.

“We don’t have to do this now,” she suggested, “Maybe—”

“Now’s…perfect.” He smiled then. An actual smile.

She found herself returning it, “Okay.” She handed him one and he took his time unwrapping it. He looked at it thoughtfully, then placed it in his mouth.

Their first dinner should be more than a stick of gum, but when you’re defender of the East End and you’re dating Batman, you have to be ready for anything.

Didn't go to school today.Blah.

Onto important news: checked on what DC has in store for my favorite feline fatale and it's cancelled! CANCELLED! I know the writing had not been so great lately and personally I hated the art, but cancelled? Shouldn't they try another team another direction before they decide to cancel a title with one of the most popular characters in all of DC. I suppose that with sagging sales, DC couldn't tell Catwoman is one of the most popular characters out there, but c'mon. Kick-ass women! Who doesn't love 'em? And now, it's gone. Only reached 81. Volume 1 reached 94!

Okay, I know that this guy, Taylor Kitch has been cast as Gambit in the new Wolverine movie, but I had read somewhere that this other guy (Channing Tatum) was considered for the role of Gambit in X3, but they cut out his part...so, he would have been Gambit had there been one in the movie. Anyway, I did this manip before yesterday's news broke out. If you'd like a redo, I'll do it, but if not, here's Rogue/Gambit!

Title: Nightly Fights
Pairing: Batman/Catwoman

Being on top left most of her body exposed to the midnight air and so Selina snuggled into Bruce. He wrapped one arm tighter around her waist and stroked her thigh with his other hand. Her couch wasn’t very large, but since they were both too eager when he arrived and couldn’t wait to get to her bedroom, they now lay comfortably on top of it. Well, she was comfortable, Bruce’s feet hung over the edge.

Selina laughed and Bruce grimaced as they looked at her black Bombay, the rust and gold striped Tabby, and the white Persian fight for his cowl. Their sharp little claws couldn’t do any real damage to his mask, he had to reinforce the Kevlar twofold and added a scratch-resistant layer since he started spending the night, but in any case, he didn’t appreciate their continuous attempts at its destruction. He didn't like the idea of claws trying to scratch his eyes out, brought back too many memories he would much rather forget.

I'm legal! :D

My presentation is next week and my group is so unprepared. The "leader" is such an airhead. He doesn't know anything! He doesn't know how to delegate or lkjsdfk;hsadfo;hs;dfh;sadfh;asdfl it's just so freaking frustrating! And it counts as 40 % of our grade!

ETA: called another of my groupmemebers and she agrees with me. We have to get in contact with the other guy in our group, plus the airhead, and maybe meet sometime this weekend. Okay, I feel better now.
